Studio
Open studio
Every first weekend of the month, Atelier Christine Comyn opens the doors of its studio, with the exception of July and August. An invitation to step into the heart of her creative process: where every work on canvas emerges from silence, intuition and paint.
Visit the studio freely between 11am and 7pm. Everything unfolds by feel: without a fixed programme or presentation.

Technique
The oeuvre of Christine Comyn cannot be captured in one style or one period. What remains is the process: water as medium, the use of acrylic paint, the dialogue between colour and figure.
Christine Comyn brings abstraction and figuration together in a powerful balance. Backgrounds are built up with broad, water-based brushstrokes in acrylic paint. Only when colour, light and depth have found their place does the figure appear. The eyes are painted last. They determine the moment when a work is "finished": when it begins to look back.
Portraits and figures
Her portraits are not likenesses, but encounters. Photographs serve as a starting point, never as a goal. What emerges is a character, a presence, shaped by her feeling and that of the subject. Every work is a pièce unique.
Plexi and layering
In various periods Christine worked with plexiglass, painted on both sides. Not as an experiment, but as an extension of her search for depth and layering. Paint, light and chance are given room to move.
Themes
Christine Comyn regularly works in series, not as fixed concepts but as trajectories that unfold gradually. A first work sets something in motion, subsequent paintings deepen, shift and nuance that same feeling.
Themes move between feminine identity, presence, transformation and movement. Dancers, contemporary portraits, imagined androgynous beings, historical figures: they all appear on the stage.
